Course Description:
Proper kitchen ventilation requires a balance between efficiency and effectiveness. In this course, we will discuss the basics of ventilation, as well as the technical aspect of kitchen venting. This seminar will also cover the subtleties and variances between manufacturer recommendations and real-world design as it applies to today’s unique kitchens.
This Seminar Will Teach You To:
- Grasp the purpose of ventilation and recognize key differences between applications.
- Learn how to calculate proper venting for every kitchen.
- Identify the variances as ducting changes and adapts to a construction.
- Understand certain ventilation guidelines and identify outdated practices.
John Kieffer Bio
John Kieffer, 3rd Generation owner of Kieffer’s Appliances (established 1917) has been at the forefront of appliance trends and innovation for over 35 years. John has been instrumental in the introduction and evolution of “professional, high-end” appliances for the home. A NKBA Mid-Atlantic member for many years, John and his company are very active in the association: hosting events at their Lansdale, PA showroom and supporting that NKBA however then can. An experienced presenter, John has given many talks on kitchen design over the years throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Kieffer’s Appliances has both a retail and outside sales division, servicing both retail consumers and trade partners throughout PA, NJ, DE, & MD.
Dustin Stehr Bio
Dustin Stehr, CKD CBD, has an extensive background of education and experience in his field. A native of Pennsylvania, Dustin graduated from Millersville University as an art major, and York Technical Institute, as a computer design major.
Dustin has received awards for numerous design projects. In 2000, he was awarded with both the York County Builders Association’s Award for Outstanding Kitchen Remodel Project and Outstanding Complete Remodel Project. Then in 2006, he achieved the Home Builders Association Best Residential Renovation and Home Builders Association Best Bathroom Remodel. In addition to numerous awards, Dustin’s projects have been published in both local and national magazines, including Susquehanna Style, Profiles Magazine, Builder/Architect, and Kitchen and Bath Design News.
Both Stehr’s education and work experience have provided him with broad knowledge in several areas of the remodeling industry, including the kitchen design, appliance function, and mechanical installation. His experience in project management has left him with the knowledge of procedure involving material estimation, on-site consultation, and installation practices of residential renovation.
Stehr has served as President of the Susquehanna Valley NKBA Chapter, as well as several other board positions, and also serving as Judge for the national NKBA design competition in 2009, and 2011.
