These workshops are designed especially for architects, engineers, specifiers, builders, building inspectors and contractors. The goal is to better educate you on the specifics of today's connector technology. During this full day workshop, we will show you how "Continuous Load Path" works, why it's so important and what the new International Residential and Building Codes have to say about it. These workshops will present detailed information on Strong-Tie products for wood framed construction. We will begin with a discussion of Foundation-to-Sill Plate Anchorage, including a review of Simpson Anchor Systems products. We will then examine Wall Framing, including a detailed look at proper wall bracing according to the code requirements. The morning will finish with Simpson's shear wall/braced wall solutions, including Strong-Wall and our high capacity, multi-story holdown solution, Anchor Tiedown System. The afternoon will be a review of joist hangers and will include Simpson Strong-Tie's first Contractor Training video, Basic Fastener Installation. We will spend about 30 minutes reviewing the latest information on Corrosion Resistance of Metal Connectors, and the final segment will address wall and roof uplift connections. This program is a review of the structural code requirements for wind based on the International Residential Code/International Building Code 2000 & 2003 or the AF&PA Wood Frame Construction Manual then, we will discuss products which can satisfy those requirements based on lowest installed cost. By the end of the workshop, you will have seen the very latest developments in the world of structural connectors and will leave with a new understanding of where Simpson Strong-Tie products fit into your building requirements.
