SUMMARY:Workshop: Wood Frame Construction for High Wind Regions
DESCRIPTION:WORKSHOP \n\nWood Frame Construction for High Wind Regions\n\n \n\nHigh Wind Workshop\, 1 hour \n\nThe program will discuss components of a shear wall\, engineered options for shear wall design to optimize strength vs cost\, proper fastener spacing and selection\, strength reduction of overdriven fasteners and solutions. The course also includes an overview of best framing practices to address wall and roof sheathing buckling as well as reducing floor squeaks.\n\n \n\nEnergy Framing Techniques\, 1 hour\n\nThe program will focus on reducing framing and energy costs with the use of advanced framing methods while complying with high wind and energy codes including 24 inch spacing of framing members and exterior wall headers that allow for insulation. We will address framing that reduces air infiltration and increases insulation performance including raised heel trusses and radiant barrier roof sheathing. The audience will gain an understanding of using wall sheathing for combined shear and uplift\, The program will also include information on high performance attic insulation including buried ducts. \n\n2 Hours of CEU's through the National AIA Course numbers: FWC604\n\n& FWC602\n\n\n\nPresented by: David E. Lewis & Craig Doehner/ Norbord\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION FORM
