Without exaggeration, the ways in which society balances and addresses competing concerns over real property stigmatized by psychological impairments and unwanted social conditions makes a fascinating story. "Stigmatized Property" will equip the practicing real estate professional with an overview of the relevant law, both in its development and in its present state, and encourage recognition that stigma is not a thing of the past but remains an evergreen issue. As an example of how the real estate industry copes with issues arising from changing mores and commercial pressures, the history of New Jersey's coming to grips with AIDS and HIV-related illness as a stigmatizing condition of property will be detailed, and contrasted with approaches taken by other states and the Federal government.
